Accelerating High-Value Healthcare
National pressure to bend the cost curve will begin to create an imperative for health systems to focus on expanding the use of high value interventions. There is a clear need for financial incentives that support providers' business case for quality and efficiency. Nevertheless, some healthcare systems already achieve superior outcomes with fewer resources.
This Forum will examine strategies adopted by three innovative health systems that have achieved outstanding gains in quality and efficiency: Virginia Mason Medical Center, Ascension Health, and Alegent Health. The case studies will frame a broader discussion about strategies that providers, payers, policy makers, and employers can use to accelerate delivery reforms more broadly across the healthcare system.
