The 2016 Election: How Will It Affect the U.S. Health Care Industry?
Donald Trump’s election combined with Republican control of Congress signals that major changes in healthcare policy are likely. The debate in Washington is already changing as policymakers consider the implications of repealing the Affordable Care Act (ACA) with no consensus on a replacement strategy. This creates substantial uncertainty for US healthcare organizations that have spent the past 6 years preparing to compete successfully in a new environment created by the ACA. This Forum will review the policy options under consideration as they stand a month after Donald Trump’s inauguration. We will then convene three panels to discuss the outlook for insurers, health systems, and pharmaceutical and device firms under leading reform options and discuss industry perspectives on potentially viable approaches.
